Lucie & Lalo’s Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
Lucie & Lalo’s rehearsal dinner at the historic Iroquois Hunt Club in Lexington, Kentucky set the tone for an extraordinary wedding weekend rooted in heritage, international family ties, and editorial wedding design. Tucked within the wooded landscape of Kentucky horse country, the evening welcomed guests into one of the region’s most iconic private clubs for an intimate candlelit dinner that felt deeply personal while operating at the level of a luxury destination celebration.
Designed and produced by Makers House™, the rehearsal dinner embraced a rich, cinematic palette inspired by the couple’s story and the atmosphere of the Hunt Club itself. Crimson florals layered with taper candles, woven chargers, crisp white linens, and warm wood interiors created an environment that felt timeless, tailored, and unmistakably Kentucky. The stone walls, equestrian artwork, and historic architecture of the club provided a dramatic backdrop for a design approach that balanced refined Southern tradition with a distinctly European sensibility.
The guest list itself reflected the international nature of the celebration. Lucie’s distinguished Kentucky family, including a lineage tied to U.S. Senate history, welcomed Lalo’s family and friends who traveled from Spain for the wedding weekend. The result was an evening that blended cultures effortlessly — elegant without feeling formal, intimate while still visually grand. Conversations flowed over candlelight and red wine as guests gathered beneath wagon-wheel chandeliers and panoramic woodland views, creating the feeling of a private estate dinner party rather than a traditional rehearsal event.
From the beginning, the vision centered around creating what Makers House™ describes as an “editorial equestrian garden” aesthetic — merging the softness of an English garden party with the scale and structure of a luxury Kentucky estate wedding. Sailcloth tents rose from the rolling hills beside the horse stables, layered with custom greenery installations, imported linens from La Tavola, garden-inspired tablescapes, crystal chandeliers wrapped in living foliage, and long candlelit dining tables overlooking the farm’s expansive pastures.
Every detail throughout the wedding weekend was approached through a highly tailored design lens. Makers House™ oversaw the floral design, custom bars, drapery, soft seating, lighting, dance floor, ceiling installations, seating chart displays, and overall creative direction to ensure the entire experience felt cohesive from arrival to afterparty. Rather than relying on trend-driven moments, the wedding leaned into timeless textures and thoughtful restraint — allowing the natural beauty of Augustus Hill Farm and the elegance of the surrounding Kentucky landscape to remain the focal point.
Lucie’s Monique Lhuillier gown immediately became one of the defining visual moments of the weekend. The sculptural lace silhouette paired with Christian Louboutin heels and understated jewelry created a bridal look that felt simultaneously classic and fashion-forward — perfectly aligned with the tone of the celebration itself. Captured by Ashley Brown with an editorial eye that balanced intimacy and scale, the wedding carried the visual rhythm of a Vogue fashion story set against the pastoral backdrop of Kentucky horse country.
Fashion also played a central role in the visual identity of the evening. Guests arrived in polished garden attire and tailored evening looks, while Lucie’s striking red ensemble became a defining element of the rehearsal dinner aesthetic — modern, confident, and editorial against the surrounding green landscape of the Bluegrass countryside.
From the custom printed paper goods to the layered tablescapes and warm hospitality, every detail of the evening was intentionally curated to reflect the couple’s story while honoring the traditions of Kentucky entertaining. The rehearsal dinner ultimately became more than a prelude to the wedding day; it was a fully realized experience of luxury wedding design in Lexington, Kentucky, where family legacy, equestrian culture, and international elegance came together in a way that felt both effortless and unforgettable.
