Designed and produced by Makers House™, the wedding unfolded across the family’s private horse farm estate just outside of Lexington and Paris, Kentucky, blending refined equestrian tradition with a distinctly editorial point of view. The result was a wedding weekend that felt cinematic yet restrained — elegant without excess, deeply personal while operating at an extraordinary level of detail and production.
The ceremony took place on the lawn directly in front of the family’s historic estate, framed by towering white columns, sweeping views of the Bluegrass landscape, and floral installations designed to feel as though they had naturally grown into the architecture itself. Guests arrived to the sound of harpist Sally Skelton while dressed in vibrant garden-inspired formalwear that mirrored the atmosphere of the day — colorful, polished, and unmistakably Kentucky in the most elevated sense.
From the beginning, the vision centered around creating what Makers House™ describes as an “editorial equestrian garden” aesthetic — merging the softness of an English garden party with the scale and structure of a luxury Kentucky estate wedding. Sailcloth tents rose from the rolling hills beside the horse stables, layered with custom greenery installations, imported linens from La Tavola, garden-inspired tablescapes, crystal chandeliers wrapped in living foliage, and long candlelit dining tables overlooking the farm’s expansive pastures.
Every detail throughout the wedding weekend was approached through a highly tailored design lens. Makers House™ oversaw the floral design, custom bars, drapery, soft seating, lighting, dance floor, ceiling installations, seating chart displays, and overall creative direction to ensure the entire experience felt cohesive from arrival to afterparty. Rather than relying on trend-driven moments, the wedding leaned into timeless textures and thoughtful restraint — allowing the natural beauty of Augustus Hill Farm and the elegance of the surrounding Kentucky landscape to remain the focal point.
Lucie’s Monique Lhuillier gown immediately became one of the defining visual moments of the weekend. The sculptural lace silhouette paired with Christian Louboutin heels and understated jewelry created a bridal look that felt simultaneously classic and fashion-forward — perfectly aligned with the tone of the celebration itself. Captured by Ashley Brown with an editorial eye that balanced intimacy and scale, the wedding carried the visual rhythm of a Vogue fashion story set against the pastoral backdrop of Kentucky horse country.
Following cocktail hour beside the stables, guests transitioned into the reception sailcloth tent where dinner by Apiary unfolded beneath suspended greenery installations and layered candlelight. Dinner music by Thea Danos set the tone for an evening that felt elegant and relaxed rather than overly formal — an intentional balance that defined the entire celebration. Throughout the evening, guests moved naturally between the tented reception, the surrounding lawns, and the open Kentucky landscape beyond.
As night fell, the atmosphere shifted dramatically… In one of the weekend’s most unexpected transformations, the farm’s helicopter hangar became a late-night Ibiza-inspired afterparty space complete with immersive lighting, custom lounge environments, elevated cocktail service, and music by Dr. Dundiff. The contrast between the refined garden reception and the high-energy afterparty created the kind of progression that has become a signature of Makers House™ weddings — immersive celebrations that evolve emotionally and visually throughout the night.
The wedding later received national recognition with a feature in The New York Times, further establishing Lucie and Lalo’s celebration as one of the standout luxury weddings to take place in Kentucky in recent years.
